We take on between four and six new windows a year and the book is usually open about eighteen months ahead. Conservation work is scheduled separately and we will always look at an emergency.

What to send

• The opening: height, width, number of lights, and whether there is tracery
• Which way it faces
• What is behind it from outside — sky, a wall, a tree, a car park
• Any photographs, however bad, including one taken at the time of day the room is most used
• Whether there is a faculty or listed building consent in place, or whether that is still to do

How it goes

A visit and a written proposal; then a scheme drawing at one to ten with glass samples; then a full-size cartoon for approval; then the making, which for a three-light window is usually five to seven months. We invoice in four stages and we do not begin cutting until the cartoon is signed.

Costs

New work is quoted per square metre of glazed area and in 2026 sits between £3,400 and £9,000 depending on the amount of painting. Conservation is quoted per panel after survey. Neither figure includes scaffold, faculty fees or ferramenta.
